Idowu Adedji
I met a hairy and dark complexioned handsome young man in the Male Accident Ward one day, who I’d been seeing for some time, but since he wasn’t on bed, I never gave attention to. He looked physically healthy enough and was always in errand for other patients. Then I decided to engage him in a discussion one day to know about him and what he was doing in the hospital. When I discovered he didn’t seem coordinated, the
nurses on duty helped out.
“He was brought in unconscious, as an accident victim six months ago, but when he regained conscious, he lost all memories. All he could remember was his first name, Idowu, and his town, Ijebu, Nothing more…” They said.
Now there are two towns called Ijebu. (Ijebu Ode, and Ijebu Igbo) Both of them, outside Lagos State. He couldn’t remember which was his. He remembered nothing about his address in Lagos, relations or anything. So, the hospital Authorities didn’t know how to connect his relations. For six months prior to my intervention, he was loitering around in the hospital. Physically sound, but mentally blank. He became a general errand boy to other Patients, and lives only on the tips they gave him, supplemented by the hospital’s feeding system. After ministering to him and leafing him to Christ, I prayed for him and said: “…I reconnect you with your relations in Jesus Name. Within seven days, they will come for you”
Two days later, I was in Idowu’s cubicle and found some visitors sitting around him. As soon as he saw me, he sprang to his feet, very excited, and said: “Pastor! It has happened exactly as you said, my people have come for me, this is my sister, this is my …..!” And he went on introducing them. They were members of the Deeper Life Bible Church. They then gave me the full story of Idowu. Idowu was living in London, UK, and only came home on a brief visit, went out one day and never returned. After all efforts and enquiries failed to locate his whereabout, they concluded, he probably decided to quietly return to the UK without telling anybody, and that was the general conclusion. GSM, the internet, Social Media and all that goes with it today that would have made such search much easier weren’t there. But when I prayed for him and gave that prophetic word, the next day, God moved the Nigerian Television Authority’s (NTA), News hunters to the general hospital to hunt for news, and connected them with Idowu’s story. They interviewed him and beamed it on Periscope (7pm) and the main news bulletin at 9pm, appealing to those who know him to either go for him or contact his relations. This was how they got to discover his whereabouts and went for him the next day, which was two days after I prayed for him! They signed all his documents and took him home.
Only God can do this!!
Only God can do this!
